About Us
Valdese First Baptist Church is a group of distinct individuals united by a common faith. We believe it's crucial to have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. While Christian faith demands individual commitment, it's also a communal undertaking. We gather for worship and mission because we know that our personal relationship with God is interpersonal (Mt 5:23-24), because the Christ who taught us to love God also taught us to love our neighbor (Mt 22:37-40), and because our risen Savior is distinctly present in Christian community (Mt 18:20).
As a priesthood of believers, we value one another's unique gifts and perspectives. We celebrate how our differences provide the opportunity for iron to sharpen iron (Prov 27:17). Ultimately, we are unified in our mission, our vision, our identity, and especially our bedrock baptismal confession, "Jesus is Lord."
